Frank Anderson. MD is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and professor at Harvard Medical School. He specialises in the treatment of Trauma and Dissociation. Frank Anderson is a lead trainer at the IFS institute alongside Richard Schwartz and maintains a long affiliation with the Bessel Van Der Kolk trauma centre. He is a consultant of the International Associations of Trauma professionals (IATP) and is the former president and director of the foundation of self-leadership. He is passionate about teaching brain-based psychotherapy and integrating current neuroscience knowledge with the Internal family systems (IFS) model. Frank Anderson has held numerous international conferences on the neurobiology of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and dissociation as well as the IFS approach. Together with Richard Schwartz he wrote ‘Internal family systems skills training manual: trauma-informed treatment for anxiety, depression PTSD and substance abuse’. Recently he co-authored the Internal family systems skills training manual.

  • Demonstrate how to incorporate IFS with other models of treatment to address and unlock protective parts caused by trauma.

  • Learn essential strategies to effectively access vulnerabilities hidden in protective parts.
  • Discover the unique way that that IFS approaches early attachment trauma.
  • Delve into common adaptions of relational trauma including neglect, vulnerability, shame, and substance use.
  • Review the different types of traumatic wounds and discover different methods of healing which are associated with complex PTSD and dissociation.
  • Incorporate knowledge of neuroscience in relation to the IFS model and review the neurobiology of PTSD and dissociation.
  • Investigate how neuroscience can inform therapeutic decisions in cases of extreme symptoms.
  • Review common roadblocks to healing and discuss ways to successfully overcome them so your clients can effectively release the pain they carry.

 

This course will include case examples, personal experiences, and clinical exercises to enhance your learning as well.
