First Part

Resolving emotional Injuries: Letting go and forgiveness

This workshop will present an emotion-focused approach to resolving emotional injuries.

It will give clinicians practical and specific interventions to help clients resolve the anger and hurt in their relationships with others. The use of empty chair dialogues to access and work through emotions related to the injury will be discussed and demonstrated

This workshop is designed to help you:

  1. Understand the phenomenon of emotional injury and forgiveness
  2. Discriminate between forgiveness and letting go
  3. Discriminate different emotions involved in the resolution process
  4. Learn steps to promote forgiveness or letting go
  5. Understand different emotional change processes involved in empty chair dialogue

Second Part

Overcoming emotional blocks: how to use enactment with two chairs

This workshop will present an emotion-focused approach to unblock the emotions blocked.

It will give clinicians practical and specific interventions to help clients to conceive themselves as active agents in the process related to emotional blocks. In this regard, a specific typology of dialogue with two chairs will be analyzed and shown: a side (the interrupting one) is guided and led to externalize – through the enactment – the blocking process. In this way, clients gain awareness of the modelity through which they block their own emotions.

This workshop is designed to help you:

  1. Identify the markers of self-interruption.
  2. Understanding the experience of the client about the emotional block.
  3. Discriminate the concept of self-protection from the avoidance one.
  4. Identify the different steps to unblock emotions.
  5. Facilitating the overcoming of emotional blocks through the use of enactment with the two chairs, once detected markers of self-interruption.
